Dublin-based aviation group illegally transported munitions to Israel through Irish territory

A Dublin-based airline group illegally transported munitions of war to Israel through Irish territory. Some of the goods were flagged as funded by the US.

The Ditch first reported last year that ASL Aviation Holdings DAC’s subsidiaries legally transported weaponry from Germany to Israel on an Irish-registered aircraft. The airline group issued several false statements late last year claiming it had stopped the practice – even though its munitions flights to Israel continued until at least February this year.

Now The Ditch can confirm – after an investigation that began last summer – that ASL illegally transported munitions to Israel through Irish sovereign airspace in January 2024.

ASL Airlines Belgium brought parts for F-15 fighter jets – which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has used to bomb Yemen – from New York to Liège, through Irish airspace, on 12 January, 2024.

The weapons components completed their journey to Israel on a 15 January, 2024 Challenge Airlines flight from Liège to Tel Aviv.

Among other goods transported on the ASL flight were military aircraft components on their way to Elbit, the biggest supplier of weaponry to the IDF. Some of the goods were marked as Foreign Military Financing, meaning their supply to Israel was being funded by the US government

Multiple airlines have continued to illegally transport Israeli munitions of war through Irish territory since The Ditch first exposed the practice in August 2024.

ASL declined to comment.
